Grace Varley

   Grace Varley is a self taught painter who has been painting part-time for over 20 years. She enjoys painting in watercolors and oils, and paints with the brush and palette knife.  Her lively florals, done with the knife are  especially enjoyed by those who like a lot of color. Ms Varley has had galleries in Russell, Cape Anne, Ma. , Gravenhurst and presently in Crosby Ontario , where her paintings are displayed in an old turn of the century school house which still sports its original bell and tower.
   
   Ms. Varley has paintings in collections all over the world, partly due to having displayed her paintings in Niagara Falls, Ontario, a major tourist attraction.
 
   Ms Varley is a member of Manotick Art and  Rideau Lakes Art clubs, where occasionally her paintings will be on show with other painters. Ms. Varleys' oil floral won "best in show" at Henderson, N.C. Art show and she has sold well over 1,000 paintings worldwide, having many years ago stopped "counting".
 
   Loving to paint outdoors, Ms. Varley  has traveled all over Canada, the Eastern U.S. and Ireland, painting  in winter, summer and even in the rain, when the mood strikes. Recently, a trip to Nova Scotia, Canada, yielded lots of new material for future works and a few paintings were done on location, one of which  was sold on the spot as it was drying, to the owner of the boat she was painting. Future plans include returning to Nova Scotia to paint Yarmouth and other quaint coastal fishing villages. A teaching trip is being organized for beginners in oil or watercolors who would like to learn to paint outdoors. If interested, please contact her at the e-mail address below.

Ms Varley can be found tramping around the sugar bush, one of her favorite outdoor haunts, or canoeing in the wilderness, searching for that special waterfall to sketch. She will welcome you with a cheery wave and friendly smile, and chances are you will go away feeling just a little bit inspired .
